QUEEN VICTORIA BUILDING
ACTIVATION
CHINESE NEW YEAR ROOSTER, 2017
QUEEN VICTORIA BUILDING (QVB), TOWN HALL (SYDNEY)
The projects objective was to create a high impact installation that reflects the QVB retail customer whilst appearing light and elegant. The Rooster was created in collaboration with Art Pharmacy, Maker Maker Creative and Reso & Co.
I was responsible for the creation of the head, crest, wattle and tail components. The head was made from hand cut paper feathers that were individually glued to the steel frame. The wattle from paper Hung Boa (traditional money pockets) and the tail feathers was also paper with a steel spine that helps hold their shape.
The rooster stood over 4 metres tall with the largest tail feather measuring 5 metres in length. It was created in a 14 day period.
Testimonial
“Jeff’s work is amazing! With only a two week construction period for this project I was impressed with Jeff’s attention to detail and execution. Jeff has become a staple for us at Art Pharmacy.“
