SOUTH MELBOURNE PRIMARY SCHOOL
FRUIT SALAD NECKLACE WORKSHOP
AT HOME ONLINE WORKSHOP
MELBOURNE, 2020

As a result of the schools having to cancel many of their excursions. South Melbourne Primary School were looking for a creative workshop that their 120 Grade 1 students could complete at home.

My Wearables From Your Recycling: Fruit Salad Necklace Workshop was the perfect fit. Fruit is simple and familiar imagery for the students to recreate. the workshop also promotes healthy food and sustainability as the students are using recycled materials that they find at home for the bulk of the necklace. Things like cereal and muesli bar boxes.

The workshop can also inspire the students to keep making other variations of this necklace after this is complete.

The workshop was viewed 170 times over the 3-week period. Many of the students would present their creation during class zoom sessions.

Testimonial

Jeff’s workshop was amazing! We are an inner-city school with over 120 Grade One students, most living in and experiencing the lockdown in small, high-rise apartment buildings, so we wanted a workshop that engaging and accessible for all of our students. The students were so excited to share their creations in our class video calls at the end of the day. We would definitely recommend this workshop and can’t wait to see what Jeff plans for us next.
