Indigenous singer-songwriter Thelma Plum work my ‘change the date’ fringed coat for the Sydney leg of her tour.
The coat is made from advertising street banners with all the fringe being hand cut.
The Australia Day banners were primarily used in this coat in a sign of support for changing the date. I was inspired by the Aboriginal flag for the colour usage.
In short, change the context of the banner, change the date.
